The National Museum of Antiquities commissioned DoubleMatured to design the campaign for the exhibition 'Mummiekisten van de Amon-priesters'. Apart from the standard campaign items as posters, flyers, etc. we also designed the graphics for two buses. They can be seen doing there rounds in Leiden and surrounding places.

Again young sculpting talent gets attention in Leiden this summer. The Hooglandse Kerkgracht, in the heart of Leiden, will be home to magnificent sculptures for two summer months. DoubleMatured designed the campaign for the new exhibition!

DoubleMatured works on Ghana E-Scrap Campaign
E-Scrap is a big problem all around the world, and even more so in developing countries such as Ghana. DoubleMatured is working together with Reinhardt Smit, Thijs van Iersel and Ron Smit on a concept including a website, animation and a possible print campaign in order to raise awareness about the E-Scrap problem and the environmental impact of improper recycling.
The increased volume of valuable e-scrap that can be recycled in a more responsible and environmentally friendly way, should also reduce poverty. Nice! Let's think about that!
Accessibility of Leiden 'Elke dag dichterbij'
DoubleMatured developed the concept, the website, the 'bakfiets', Boomerand cards, Abri posters, t-shirts, an animation, the 'babbelbox', the layout of the city newspaper, banners, construction signs in the public spaces, presentation templates, etc. DoubleMatured 'Elke dag dichterbij'.

Teaching 10 year olds to design and build a website
Emmy Wouters of Dynamo Foundation Amsterdam asked us to develop an interactive study programme for young children. During 10 lessons the children learned how to design and build a simple website. The programme was made in collaboration with Reinhardt Smit. Joris and Reinhardt subsequently gave the classes and found that it mostly rains in Amsterdam on Monday afternoons!

Succesful Recruitment campaign Leiden University
DoubleMatured worked on a recruitment campaign for Leiden University together with Thijs van Iersel.
The motto “Humanitarian Science works” was the underlying message to recruit new students for this diverse study.
The results of the campaign are great! Flyers, banners, Boomerang cards, a promotional film and a social media campaign inspired the new students!

We will now not only collaborate on work, but also share an office together, starting mid december. In the meantime it’s time for some DIY on the third floor.

Asarti opened it’s new shop in Antwerp
Asarti creates precious knitwear entirely handmade in light noble fibers of alpaca and pima cotton to ensure high quality within a timeless product. DoubleMatured designed the new Asarti identity, from the logo to the bags to the wallpaper, etc. We also advised on the interior and exterior design of the shop. The whole project has been an inspiring and close collaboration with Tania and Nicole from Asarti.

The SusLab North West Europe (NWE) project aims to establish an infrastructure of four connected ‘Living Labs’ that will research the interaction between technology and users in realistic domestic situations. DoubleMatured designed the identity in cooperation with Jack Broeders.

Winner of Accessibility of Leiden Campaign Pitch!
Everyone is dreaming of a more accessible Leiden, and this is finally becoming reality! During the coming 8 years, Leiden will be working hard on improving the accessibility of the city. Positive and clear communication with the users of the city about this important and extensive project is very important. Three prominent agencies in Leiden were asked to develop a communications concept. DoubleMatured’s concept was chosen, simply because it made sense! We look forward to a productive partnership with the city, and a powerful campaign!
‘Taste of Laak North’
Laak Noord (The Hague) is working on improving the neighbourhood’s image. The communications team (of which DoubleMatured is a member) is examining what messages need to be sent and received by the different stakeholders: Residents’ associations, government agencies, professionals and volunteer associations active in the neighbourhood. What methods should be used? Together with the residents and other organisations, we try to answer these questions in workshops while enjoying ‘Food from the neighbourhood’, cooked by a resident.

DoubleMatured is working on a recruitment campaign for Leiden University together with Thijs van Iersel. Thijs involved DoubleMatured in the project and we subsequently won the pitch based on experience and quality level. TU Delft, DoubleMatured and sustainability
The Technical University in Delft is a partner of the European project SusLabNWE. DoubleMatured won the bid for designing the project style and is therefore officially connected to this prestigious project. The SusLab North West Europe (NWE) project aims to establish an infrastructure of four connected ‘Living Labs’ that will research the interaction between technology and users in realistic domestic situations. The four locations are Rotterdam (NL), Roergebied (DE), London (UK) and Göteborg (SE). The goal of the project is to create a world-class knowledge network with testing facilities and research methodologies. The research will be focused on user interaction and will lead to the development of sustainable products and services in urban areas.

Mind-blowing London visit in the spring of 2012
David Hockney in the Royal Academy of Arts, an inspirational and fascinating exhibition that should not be missed! So Joris, Michel and our strategic consultant Reinhardt decided to fly off to London to see the ‘bigger picture’. We were unanimous in our comments: Hockney’s work is unique, original and excellent inspiration!

Apart from the Hockney spectacle, we were able to visit a Picasso exhibition in the Tate Modern with time to spare for a pint or two. Cheers!
BIL 2012
Young sculpting talent gets extra attention in Leiden this summer. The Hooglandse Kerkgracht, in the heart of Leiden, will be home to magnificent sculptures for two summer months. DoubleMatured designed the campaign for the city’s new exhibition by Stichting Beelden in Leiden, elements of which are already visible on the streets.

Invitations have been distributed, and everyone is welcome! BIL is in town. Check out the exhibition from May 31st to July 29th 2012.
Cafe Tquiero is now open!
DoubleMatured just designed the identity for Tquiero, a new cafe in Antwerp! It's a lively cafe with a cultural hint of latin america and a touch of artistry. The cafe will also act as a small gallery, giving artists the opportunity to showcase their work for a period of six weeks. DoubleMatured designed the logo, a matching typeface for the headers, the menucard and the signage on the company car and the cafe window. Some of the illustrations we made are based on paintings by well known masters, like Frans Hals, Paul Cezanne, Edouard Manet and Pablo Picasso. Tquiero is now open!

DoubleMatured partners for Statue Exhibition in Leiden
During the past few years The Hague, Noordwijk and Amsterdam have all had open-air statue exhibitions. This summer Leiden will join these cities with its own statue exhibition on the Hooglandse Kerkgracht!

DoubleMatured will design the campaign for this unique event, in close cooperation with Stichting Beelden in Leiden, the Leiden Municipality and sponsors such as Fonds 1818, Achmea and the Cultuurfonds Leiden. In addition to the campaign visuals, DoubleMatured will provide communications advice and take responsibility for the project management and production support of the campaign.

DoubleMatured in Communication Team for project by Municipality of The Hague
Communication advisor Sabine van Meeteren has teamed up with DoubleMatured and Reinhardt Smit in order to facilitate and streamline the communication for a project by the municipality of The Hague in Laak Noord. This project, funded by the EU aims at creating a true Civil Society in this historic neighbourhood, and DoubleMatured is proud to be a part of it! DoubleMatured will be involved on a strategic level as well as in creating visual communication for this 3-year project.

Uniting powers is DoubleMatured's creed! Welfare organisations MOOI, Zebra and VÓÓR Welzijn have a similar creed. They have decided to extend the present collaboration into an administrative fusion. As of January 2012 Xtra is the name of the new urban establishment and joint service bureau of these three organisations.
DoubleMatured will be enforcing Xtra and was asked to develop the new company logo and means. The temporary website went live on January 17th and during the New year reception the new logo was officially presented. The presentation was accompanied by a short animation created by DoubleMatured in collaboration with Thijs van Iersel.
start serious request 2011 leiden
At 21:00 on 18 December 2011 the doors of the 8th ‘Glass House’ were closed, this time on the Beestenmarkt in Leiden. Snow Patrol performed at the ceremony, which was a spectacle. Until midnight on Christmas Eve, the DJs of 3FM will be taking music requests and entertaining special actions to raise money for a good cause. The theme for 2011: ‘This one’s for mama’.


During the ceremony a special toast was brought out by the project members of the Amsterdam-Dakar Challenge. DoubleMatured contributed visual designs to this project, one of the many Serious Request 2011 projects. Check out the project.

new campaigns for the national museum of antiquities
‘Gardens of the Pharaohs’ and ‘Islands of the Gods’ will bring the summer to the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden.

The exhibition ‘Gardens of the Pharaohs’ will showcase the flora of ancient Egypt whereas ‘Islands of the Gods’ will offer a combination of photogenic islands, mythical tales, and beautiful archaeological artefacts. DoubleMatured is designing the campaigns for both exhibitions. Coming to you in April 2012!

DoubleMatured evaluates 2011 in the Ab4
2011 was a good year! Together with Reinhardt Smit and Frank van Kesteren, Michel and Joris looked back and aimed forward; What went well? What can be improved?
Passionate discussions and meditation, with coffee, biscuits and some gyros in the breaks. Thanks to AB4 we had an inspiring creative location in the 'Schilderswijk' in The Hague for this important day. DoubleMatured is ready to greet 2012!
The Hague Tower (Haagse Toren) now open!
At an altitude of 132m, The Penthouse Restaurant & Sky Bar is now officially the highest hospitality establishment in The Netherlands. At 21:00 on the 24th of November Elwin Giel officially opened the restaurant, the sky bar and the night club. DoubleMatured designed the 5 logos and identities of the business units; The Penthouse, HighSociety, Skysuites, Veranda Cafe and The Hague Tower.

24 November was an inspirational day for a large group of enthusiastic Leidenaren at the Stadslab in Leiden. The Stadslab is a place for meeting, collaborating and creating innovating projects for the city of Leiden. During the evening’s program, this group of creative people presented their projects and ideas to each other in order to make Leiden more cultural, more innovative and more exciting. DoubleMatured gave short workshops on Project Management, not only to inspire and motivate, but also to provide these people with the tools necessary to move their ideas from vision to reality. A very successful evening with inspiring people all around!

Tall, slender and black, The Hague Tower, also known as the Iron or ‘Strijkijzer’, is on the verge of a significant metamorphosis. A classy restaurant, luxurious meeting facilities, flexible workspaces and a night club will complement the apartments already located in The Hague Tower.

DoubleMatured is working on the visual identities for these business units; High End designs, 130m in the sky. The Champagne will flow in mid-November, when visitors can enjoy the views; From the smokestacks in Rotterdam to the fish in the Scheveningen harbour!

At the moment Bentveld and DoubleMatured are cooperating on a fun new project, Bentveld's new website! The request was to develop a stylish, functional and user friendly website. A project to dive into!

Sun Jung Hwang graduated for her master type and media. She created six superheroes. For each superhero she designed a typeface with matching characteristics. So in a comic you can recognise the superhero by its typeface. KAPOW!

DoubleMatured was asked to design and build a splash page for an internal campaign on the intranet of Nationale Nederlanden. For this project we worked with their sparkling new identity.

Mediaxplain offers strategic and executive media advice. Their current website has to be refreshed. Goal: clear communication and easy to use for their visitors and webmasters. DoubleMatured takes care of the project management and the design of the website while collaborating with Twien for building the site.

Short movies for the Municipality of Leiden

Thijs van Iersel and DoubleMatured recently started making news movies for the intranet of the Municipality of Leiden. Thijs is responsible for film and technique and DoubleMatured for the organisation. We combine our strengths and collectively deliver creative input. The collaboration with other video specialists makes it possible to offer quality productions on short notice.
‘Synthese Leiden,’ a discussion evening was the first theme we covered. At the arrival of the peace flame in Leiden on Liberation Day, Thijs filmed the runners and Michel interviewed the mayor of Leiden, Mr Lenferink.

Thunder roll, sunshine for the good cause! The Amsterdam-Dakar Challenge print campaign has started. Invitations for this 3FM Serious Request challenge can be seen in newspapers around the Leiden area, including the Leidsch Dagblad!

Workgroup ‘Leiden-Dakar Challenge’, 3 FM Serious Request 2011
This December 3 FM Serious Request is coming to Leiden! The Beestenmarkt and the adjoining Turfmarkt will function as the backdrop of this event. Thousands of people are expected to come and support the good cause, while promoting Leiden at the same time.

DoubleMatured, based in Leiden, was approached to be part of the workgroup for the 'Leiden-Dakar Challenge', one of the more prominent projects of Serious Request 2011. The workgroup consists of delegates from the Leidsch Dagblad, the Leidse Rederij, The Amsterdam-Dakar Challenge, KLM and Leiden Marketing. In December dozens of cars will partake in the Leiden-Dakar Challenge. They will travel to Marocco and back to Leiden. For what Purpose? To raise money for 3 FM Serious Request. Currently, DoubleMatured is collaborating with Budget Concepts (based in The Hague), generating creative input and design.The goal is to enthuse people, getting together as many teams as possible to partake in the Challenge. Find your drive for a good cause!

The Dutch National Museum of Antiquities collaborates with DoubleMatured
For the exhibition 'Sisi and Wilhelm II, Emperors on Corfu', the Dutch National Museum of Antiquities approached DoubleMatured for the design of the campaign concept and means of communications. From April 2011 Posters oozing the romance, elegance and spheres of bygone times will decorate the streets. DoubleMatured steps into the dreamworld of two well known personalities of European history.
The exhibition fuses together Sisi's fascination of the great Greek writers, her Corfu Palace, Ancient Art and Wilhelm's II special admiration for the great Greek hero's. Besides enholding a selection from the personal archeological collection of Sisi and Wilhelm II, the museum will also showcase water-colors, costumes, vases and uniforms. Open to visitors from April 21 to September 2011!
Designing the new identity for ‘Het Nut’ in Beesd!
'Het Nut’ starts 2011 with a new owner and a new focus. As of January 20th, the magnificent 18th century premises, located at the Voorstraat in Beesd, is the place to be in the Betuwe for meetings, trainings, debates and events.
While working on the new logo and website, DoubleMatured is also hanging cups on the wall together with photographer Merel van Beukering. Wordless images in a place where the spoken word prevails.

Ron Smit Consulting, Africa’s best works with DoubleMatured
Ron Smit is an expert on sustainable development in the mining sector, with significant experience in Africa. He offers project management, management consulting focused on geology, exploration, environment and mining cadastre design, and has worked on a number of EU-funded projects.
DoubleMatured digs deep into Ron Smit’s experiences, looking for minerals, colours and crystals. A new logo and website will refine his image from raw minerals to polished gems and accurately portray his professionalism.

Earlier collaborations gave us a taste of what could be... We put our heads together and played some pingpong, bouncing off ideas. 49 return tickets Leiden – The Hague, 3457 minutes on the phone and three dummies led us to where we are now, a moment to toast to. As Paris Hilton says: ‘The only rule is don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.’
Michel van Ruijven and Joris Smidt decided to join forces, organisation + creativity, the perfect fusion. DoubleMatured is a collaborative network of specialists and we are ready to kick design!

DoubleMatured swings at Houthoff Buruma's Christmas party
Every year Houthoff's Christmas party provides the perfect opportunity to bring together all the employees of Houthoff Buruma. In 2010 as many employees as possible were to be attracted. DoubleMatured was approached to invent a concept which would charm everyone.

A classic winter wonderland was used as the base for the communicative items. DoubleMatured developed the digital save the date, the digital invitation, a placemat, the Christmas card and a poster. Swinging around the Christmas tree at Houthoff's Christmas party! Swing along!
Designer Jack Broeders requested our help with ‘Monitor Mondzorg’
The hotline ’Monitor Mondzorg’ (Monitor Oral Care) can be used by professionals in oral care to report concerns about the functioning of colleagues. The hotline seeks to find solutions for the observed problems. ‘Monitor Mondzorg’ supports the improvement of quality by the use of counseling or other adequate solutions.
Designer Jack Broeders requested DoubleMatured’s help with the development of the logo, a simple identity and the website. ‘Monitor Mondzorg’ will take off early 2011.
