The fourth edition of Sculptures in Leiden was opened on the Hooglandse Kerkgracht in Leiden on Wednesday 13 May this year. A unique addition this year is that the exhibition has a sattelite location at the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden. The reason for that is this year’s theme: ‘Botanica’, in celebration of the 425th anniversary of the oldest botanical garden of The Netherlands.

Maaike Knibbe was named the winner of the Frans de Wit prize by the chairman of the judges, Jop Ubbens of Christie’s. Other speeches during the opening ceremonies were given by Joque Mulder, the chairman of the Board of the BiL assosociation, Dr. Paul Keßler, prefect of the Hortus Botanicus, and Casper Faassen a renowned artist from Leiden.

As in all previous editions, DoubleMatured again developed the campaign identity for this year’s exhibition as well as the anniversary identity for the Hortus Botanicus.
